TICKETS for Sunderland’s brand new summer music event are selling fast, as fans eager to enjoy a weekend of nostalgia continue to snap them up.

The Kubix Festival is heading to Herrington County Park over the weekend of Friday and Saturday August 10 and 11, 2018, and is set to feature some of biggest names from the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Former Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating will headline a 1990s-inspired line up on Friday, performing some of the band’s biggest hits along with his own solo chart-toppers.

Joining him on the bill will Peter Andre, B*witched, Right Said Fred and boyband East 17.

On Saturday, the 80s’ favourite Prince Charming, Adam Ant, will be leading a star-studded programme featuring leading stars from the alternative and indie scenes.

These are set to include Buzzcocks, The Boomtown Rats featuring Bob Geldof, Fun Lovin Criminals, Peter Hook & The Light, The Undertones and The Blockheads.

Tickets have been released in four stages to allow early buyers the chance to take advantage of the best prices.

Early Bird and first release tickets sold out earlier in the year and now organisers report that the second wave is selling very quickly.

“The way we have organised it has been to release tickets in four waves so people who bought early would receive the best deals,” said festival organiser Alex Hutchinson.

“Our Early Bird tickets flew out the door, swiftly followed by the first wave and now we are seeing the second tier is close to selling out.  Once these are gone, we will be making our third and final selection of advance tickets available, and that will be the last chance to buy.

“This is a totally new event and we always knew it was going to be popular, and sales have reflected this. We anticipate that the whole event will sell out very, very quickly once all the tickets have been released so I’d advise anyone who wants to be there to get booking as soon as possible.”

Shuttle bus services will be provided for both shows and will run from Sunderland, Newcastle, Durham, Gateshead, Hartlepool and Middlesbrough on both days, while free parking will also be available at the venue.

Both shows will be family friendly, with reduced tickets available for accompanied under-15s.
