Brooke Bentham has premiered new single 'I Need Your Body', the second to be
taken from her debut EP entitled 'The Room Swayed'. This follows the success of
acclaimed return track 'Heavy & Ephemeral', which picked up support across
Radio 1, 6Music and Radio X.

'I Need Your Body' is a melancholic mix of lust and resentment, produced again by Ben Baptie (Daughter, Adele, Lapsley) and pushing Brooke's stunning voice further than ever before. If 'Heavy & Ephemeral' described feeling suffocated in a relationship, 'I Need Your Body' captures that sense of moving onto someone new ("into the night we go, once more") but again falling for the wrong person. Brooke's debut EP, 'The Room Swayed', is themed around those static, unfulfilling moments in a relationships new and old, and the realisation of how to break out of it (in part through writing songs).

Brooke Bentham also has announced a special Tyneside homecoming show this Summer. Having just concluded her first UK tour proper in March with the esteemed John Smith at 8 salubrious venues across the UK inc. London’s Union Chapel, Brooke returns to the North East for a headline performance at the Surf Club in Tynemouth on June 17th. Further dates and festival appearances will be announced soon.

Aged just twenty one, Brooke Bentham's music nonetheless carries the weight of someone who's lived a hundred lives already. She was born and raised in Southshields (just outside Newcastle) before relocating to New Cross to study at Goldsmith's (where she is in the final stages of her degree). Already, her songwriting swells and plummets in ways which feel as inspired by the epic alt rock journeying of War On Drugs or Ryan Adams as the emotional vocal depths of Sharon Van Etten or Angel Olsen: all shot through with remarkably personal, direct lyricism which suggests a maturity and life ethic that's wise beyond her years. 'The Room Swayed' may have been written in an admittedly challenging period, but the results suggest Brooke Bentham is now looking firmly towards a bright future.
