@TheStaggDo smashes @KickStarter target in 2 days and is reaching for a new one! @LostVoiceGuy says why

The North East film-making duo who brought you the low-brow Geordie comedy The Stagg Do are astounded by the recent success of their Kickstarter crowd sourcing campaign which smashed its 30-day target of £4,000 in less than 48 hours.

They now plan to build on the momentum of their success and are going for a “stretch” goal of £7000 which will help them pay for  more UK screenings as well as show the film in the US.

Their initial Kickstarter campaign was designed to pay the costs of BBFC accreditation which is a requirement for films to be screened theatrically in the UK or released on DVD.

“The whole thing has thrown me for a loop,” said American-born James DeMarco, co-writer and director of the film.

“I thought it would go down to the wire. Nobody expected this much love from our fans. I’m still shell-shocked.”

The self-professed Geordie comedy, which screened to a near sell-out crowd on its world premiere at the O2 Academy Newcastle last summer, stars well-known North East actors Craig Conway, Bill Fellows, local comic sensation, Lee Ridley aka The Lost Voice Guy, as well as two non-actors from Walker in the lead roles.

Shot in several North East locations during the summer of 2011, the film tells the story of three Walker lads who want to throw a surprise stag do for their best mate, Staggy, at an infamous gentleman’s club, The Cock’s Inn, under the guise of a camping trip.  But the bride-to-be doesn’t trust them and insists that they bring her father, a right wing high court judge. Now the lads must find a way to ditch the overbearing tyrant and get to the The Cock’s Inn by midnight or miss out on the party of a lifetime.

Here is Lee Ridley aka The Lost Voice Guy expressing his support for the project:
